Hope - 3"x3" painting

A lively little butterfly with aqua blue and yellow-green patterned wings, looks toward a future that's filled with bold, glowing, warm yellow accents all around her. Signed and hand-stamped with the word hope along the top edge of the canvas. The painting has beaded accents, and the canvas is wrapped in coordinating seafoam green vintage millinery ribbon tied into a pretty bow at the top for hanging.
 
This painted insect is a specimen from my Notes to Self collection, my own cabinet of curiosities, inspired by antique book illustrations of the natural world & the collections of entomologists. Each insect specimen represents one of my own “wonders of the world,”  concepts such as magic and mystery, emotions like joy, physical phenomenons like sunlight - these are the dreamy things that I don’t want to forget when times are tough. I’ve painted each insect in a way that conjures the feeling of these things for me, and hand-stamped the word that inspired the painting onto it.
